Pioneering Schools lead the way with Energy Diaries

Primary School children across Powys are leading the way in this very exciting pilot for us. Presteigne Primary School children were our first pioneers, now Llandiloes Primary School are working through their Energy Diaries. They have already sent us some feedback, which we are using to improve it for Arddleen and Berriew schools. The Energy Diary asks children to record in words and pictures, about the energy they use in their homes.

The purpose of the diary is to get young people looking at how they use energy in their homes, to get families talking about their homes and energy and by the end of the week to start saving energy. This will also encourage families to foster good habits for the future, so energy is not wasted.

Children’s Energy Diaries

20/7/13

Lightfoot has been busy creating an Energy Diary for children. This booklet asks children to tell us over a week in words, pictures and a quiz what type of home they live in e.g. house or flat and the energy they themselves use e.g. charging up their lap tops how long they may use an energy powered game. There will be an energy saving tip for them each day and an interesting fact.

Lightfoot is trying to understand how children view energy use. If your group would like to take part in this or the quizzes, please contact Mandy Brick on 01547 528265 or email mandy@lightfoot.org.uk for more details.

This project and the others in our news stories are supported by Environment Wales.
