Cavity Wall Insulation

Up to 35% of household heating can be lost through un-insulated walls. Cavity insulation is a quick, easy and cost-effective way of reducing energy costs and increasing home comfort.

If some of your walls are cavities without insulation, we strongly recommend that you install it.

Investment: Could be financed through the Green Deal or if you are in receipt of benefits through ECO or NEST

Financial Saving: Up to £150 per year*

Carbon Dioxide Saving: Up to 1000kg per year   (less if you use wood or mains gas for heating)

*Savings are approximate, based on an oil heated 3 bed semi-detached house, using an oil price of 45p per litre. •The Soldiers, Sailors, Air Force Families Association (SSAFA Forces Help), may be able to provide some assistance. Phone 01743 344220.

Things to Consider:

Installation

Getting your cavity insulated could not be easier. It can normally be applied from the outside through small holes, drilled in the wall by trained technicians. The insulation is then injected through the holes, filling the cavity. The holes are filled in to make as good a match as possible with the existing wall. It is a simple process and is normally completed within three hours without damage or mess to your house or garden.

Moisture Control

Before cavity insulation can be installed, a trained surveyor needs to evaluate whether any cavity walls are unusually exposed to the elements or whether pre-existing damp may cause problems. In some unusual circumstances it may be unwise to insulate a cavity if the property has a particular problem with damp.

Materials

There are a variety of materials used but they all work the same way: by combining with the captive air, the insulation acts as a barrier to heat loss. The work will be guaranteed for 25 years.
